There is just not one answer to this question there are many answers to this question. The first thing that I learned is that the most important thing that you can do for someone who just losed a loved one is to just be there, that is what everyone who just losed a loved one is to know that someone is there that understand then and the things that they are going though.I also learned that everyone loses someone very important in there life so everyone in the world looses someone who they really cared about.
Although my research was very sucessful I though that there was more out there to my question yes my question was answered but i feel that the articles was telling me the same thing over and over again. But indeed the articles did answer my question which is a very good thing.
The second thing that I learned from my research was that everyone deals with the loss of a loved one very different. One person may shut down from the world and stop talking to everyone. Then on the other hand many peolpe may get out of control and start doing things that they would have never done before that person passed away.It really alls depends on #1 how close you was to that person and how do you deal with that person being out of your life.
The third thing that I learned from my research was that things get harder before they get better. Just keep your head up and it will all get better.

Okay here I am again trying to find a answer to my question when I came upon this article that really was just what I was looking for the article title is called "How to help someone who has just lost a loved one" this article talks about the steps that you should take as being a friend of a person who just lost a love one. The first thing the article talks about you should do is tell the person that you are very sorry for there lost and ask the person if there is anything that you can do at that point in time. The second thing that you should do is act the person if they need any financial help because there is a lot of people out in the world that do not have life insurence which means that there surviving family will have to pay for all the funnel expenses out of there pocket so that would be a good thing to do is offer financial help. The third thing that you so someone who really care about the person who just lost a loved one is to bring food to the persons house. When someone looses a loved one the last thing that's on there mind is food and trying to cook to eat. On the other hand you may call and ask them if they need anything and they say they have enough food that means that people ave already brough food for them.Sending the family a sympathy card would also be a good idea.Maybe you could send flowers to the funeral home before the funeral thats a good idea to.The number one thing that you could do is be there for the person no matter what the situation my be they need. Dealing with the death of my grandmother all of these thing \s that I just mentioned made my griving process a little better do not get me wrong it was very hard dealing with the loss of my grandmother but knowing there was someone out there who was willing to make easier for me was a great thing. It takes time but it does get easier.
Seifert, Ariane. Johnson and Wales University lists a plethora of positive aspects that the greeks at their college offer such as opportunities to create special, life long friendships, develop leadership skills, participate in community service activities, and apply classroom learning to real experiences within an organization. It also states that greek members feel a greater connection to their University and build strong relationships with alumni and network with other fraternity and sorority members across the country. Also, many of today’s corporate, political, social, and religious leaders are alumni members of fraternities and sororities. (Johnson & Wales University )

Although college greeks are taken a lot more serious than high school greeks we still endure some of the things that college pledgies go through. So, to further ma research I asked a few junior greek members a few questions to get their point of view on my topic. First, i interviewed Terrell Leslie, a member of Iota Psi Youth Alliance. He stated that "by joining a greek organization he was introduced to new things such as college and also he states that it matured him as a person." He also says that he doesn't regret pledging because it gave him a sense of lifelong brotherhood. For another opinion I went to my sister Kearia King, a member of Kappa Lambda Gamma Junior Sorority. She explains how by joining a organization she had the chance to meet new people and take on new experiences. Kearia states "joining Kappa Lambda Gamma Junior Sorority has made me a way more outgoing person overall".

Johnson & Wales University. Well he ended up pledging and not regretting his decision and he says "it has made him a more round person". He also states that it has helped him strive to achieve his personal best in all areas in college life: scholarship, leadership, teamwork, and community service. The article also included a interview from Lauren Hansen, a junior accounting/computer information systems major and Phi Beta Phi member. She states "It is a great way to meet new people. Joining Greek Life gives you a support system and lifelong friendship... you have service opportunities and can participate in intramural sports, hold leadership positions, and are able to become very active in campus events."During the year the Greek organizations also sponsor different fundraising and charity events such as the Chi Omega Chili cook off, the Kappa Delta Shamrock and 5K run, the Triangle Thanksgiving dinner, etc... The events help Greek members fulfill their goal to reach out to the community and create positive change. Throughout my blog I wanted to show and give you examples in which people joined a Greek organization and how it changed their lives in a positive way.

Potzick, kate. It talked about the steps with dealing with grief such as the first that someone who just went though the loss of a oved one is to understand the grieving process that everything is not going to be easy there is going to be a long road ahead. There are several stages of grief including denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. In my opion I believe that the hardest step in the grieving process is acceptance, dealing with the loss of my grandmother the hardest thing for me was really accepting that she was gone and was never comming bak that was real hard.Hten on the other hand some people deal with grief very different for example some people may withdraw themselves from the world, friends and family. It expresses how only the negatives of "greek life" are brought to the surface. To clear up a major stereotype that fraternities and sororities are the same... they aren't. There are a lot of differences between the two besides gender, but yet they always get grouped together when being described. Both groups believe in the same ideas however fraternities and sororities are quite different in the ways they achieve them. Members or possible pledgies must maintain a minimum of 2.5 or higher to join or stay a member. Many sororities also have mandatory study tables to help members who need to improve in their studies or to improve the study skills of members who have poor study habits. This has proved to be quite beneficial to women in sororities since their grades are higher than most of the other womens' averages of OSU, probably something very few people know.As well as grades being a positive aspect among greeks another positive about them is that sorority houses are not permitted to have alcohol on their properties. When you have parties with alcohol at your house, it is very hard to keep things from being damaged or destroyed. This is one of the reasons why sorority houses are more appealing to look at compared to some fraternity houses on campus. In my studies i found that most kids feel that there has been a dramatic change since our parents were in high school. its crazy because the teachers felt different, well at least most of them did. a social studies teacher told me that she thinks things are getting worse because the way kids got RAISED! when i talked to the teacher seemed real interested because she couldn't stop talking about the topic. she raised her head and looked at me and told me kids get raised to be how they are. (not actual word spoke but general idea). to a extent she right! adults to raise there children to protect them selves but maybe sometimes they take it to far. but also i feel that its the environment that you live in also which makes you the type of person you are. if you live somewhere that you have to protect yourself all the time you will be very defensive outside that area.

a English teacher told me that she feels nothing has changed just more people are aware of whats going on now. People aren't stupid well they can be but i highly doubt that allot of people weren't aware of the problems. involved parents would have knew and would of discussed it with he press or with the board of education just like parents do now. parents do that because that's how they were raised to take care of the child so i doubt that people weren't aware of what was going on!

Anonymous. I remembered that there are many people in the world that deals with the loss of someone. So I went to my father and start asking him some questions such as How did you deal with the loss of your father?? and by the way I never asked him this question before. So we seat down and i asked him that question.Which was " how did you deal wiht the loss of your father" I was never expecting his responce to be " it was very hard I had to take it day by day it has gotten better sinec then but its still hard just thinking about him." This really cant to a suprise to me bacause my father is the kind of guy that does not show his feelilng and never talk about andything sad so when he said that i was like MAN everyone has a way of showing there eelings. I remember when I was put in that sutition with loosing someone I was not the same way my father was he was much calmer and he dealth wih it in a whole different way. so I am going to continue my search to find answers.

Stevens,Kenneth, personal interview May 15,2008

How does being in a greek orginization positively influence the actions in daily life?

I began my research to find out how being involved in a greek orginizatoin positively influences actions in a person's daily life. So I began to look though some of the articles that came up when I typed it in. There was one article that sticks with me it is called Dealing Positively With The Loss Of Love Ones which was published by Angle-On-My-Shoulder.This Article was and still is very important to me it helped me get though all of my struggles. For example when my grandmother passed away I had a hard time dealing with the her death so I was thinking that life was going to end so I went on the computer and typed inthe same thing and I read the same article and it helped me deal with it alot better In this article it talks about how everyone loses someone in there life and things gets better as time goes on.
As I sat down looking though all of the articles that came up I start to wonder!!!!!How many people in the world today go though problems and do nothing about it and think things will get better on there own. Maybe for some people deal with there problems on there on and things work out great but other people just walk around caring there worries on there shoulders.NOT GOOD!!!!!!! I would tell everyone I know if you are going though problems just talk to someone tell someone your problems. It was a essay question on the test that cought my eye. Im begining to do reseach such as interviews with my parents and with kids from my generation. My major queston that i want to find more bout is "Does the generation of my parents differ from the generaton of today?" To me it seems like the respect for adults and the issues of todays generation is worse then how it was years ago.The gang violence and how people talk to the parents/other adults around them have became more of a issue then ever before. Back then they knew the value of a dollar. Now-a-days ypung adults stand on corners for hours and sometmes days at a time trying to make money to suvive. Now dont get me wrong, issues did occur that still happen today, i just feel as if everything is getting worse then how it was, and if it keeps increasing its not gonna be safe for kids to walk down the street or to neighborhood store. Thats rediculous!!

The difference in the violence level increased so much and thats what drew me into the subject. My friends and I often talk about why things are the way they are. Everything is a choice people choice if they want to carry a gun or to hurt/violate another person. I dont know to much about the subject but after i talk to more adults and get results from the surveys i can come up with a better conclusion. i try to think of reasons why some much has changed in 15-20 years. It seems almost unbelievable. Its crazy how dramtic people are today!

How does being in a fraternity positively influence the actions in my daily life?

By joining a fraternity I have had the opportunity to come into contact with new people and gain a better social life. This incident made me realize that this is very serious and that it could happen to me.

Shumeli, Sandra. As i was sitting down watching tv with my little cousion I began to wonder where my grandmother was at she was out playing bingo with my aunt and some friends.2 hours later my phone rang and it was my aunt telling me to get ready she was on her way to come get me to go to the hospital something bad has happened to my grandma. So I began to cry thinking oh my God what is it???? please let here be okay. 15 mins later i was walking though the doors of buffalo general hospatil cring a million though running though my head at the time I was only 12 years old.As we were walking my aunt told me everything was going to be okay as I walku=ed into room 1423 All I could do was think GRANDMA. Dave now does presentations for young people which target overcoming obstcales. positive self esteem and goal achievement. Dave also works with "Youth At Risk", which are junior high and high school assemblies. Dave experienced hard and unimaginable things when he was young and had to deal with them on his own. He now can share his story and try and help other young people now dealing with what he had to go through.

I feel that Dave is a very strong man, and it took alot of strength to overcome his experiences in his life. Not many people can grow from that and he did. Dave is now currently working on a book based on overcoming obstacles and achieving " one's innermost best", and just published his third part of his trilogy, "A Man Named Dave". I plan on reading this book as well.

Have you ever been through horrible times, and grew from it?

THE LOST BOY CONTINUED

WHEN I BEGAN TO READ THIS CHAPTER I DIDNT THINK THAT SEEKING HELP FROM A PSYCIATRIST WAS THE BEST OPTION FOR DAVID.AT THIS POINT IN HIS LIFE THE EMOTIONS HE FELT WERE STILL TENDER AS A NEW SCAR WOULD.NOW THAT I AM FURTHER INTO THE STORY I CANT WAIT TO SEE HOW THE FALLING ACTION IS GOING TO PLAY OUT,AND IF THE RESOLUTION IS GOING TO BRING A TEAR TO MY EYE.BECAUSE DAVID WAS ABUSED I THINK THAT IT WILL DEFINATELY AFFECT HOW HE REACTS TO CERTAIN SITUATIONS IN THE FUTURE.HE IS VERY SHORT TEMPERED. He would run and play, and do things he was never allowed to do at "The House". The court asked him if he wanted to stay with his mother or be in foster care. It is the sequel to "A Child Called IT". This book is about David and his abusive alcoholic mother. David wonders why his mother treats him the way she does. He is brainwashed into thinking that he is a "bad boy". His mother refers to him as "the BOY". She makes him eat out of garbage cans and beats him badly for no reason. Even locking him in the bathroom afterr she is done cleaning with strong chemicals that can be dangerous if inhaled. Reading this book is hard at times to read beacuse its hard to believ that the story is real., and that the mother of her own child can be so evil torwards him. It's hard to put the book down. It feels as if im in the book watching what is going on. So far the book is very interesting and I'm looking forward to reading this novel.

"Do you think David Pelzer (the author) wrote this book to find himself?"<br CHARACTER KAREN.I FEEL THIS BECAUSE HER MOTHER AND ALL ELLEVEN OF HER AUNTIES ARE VERY OVER PROTECTIVE OF HER COUSIN MOOKIE BECAUSE HES THE ONLY BOY IN THE FAMILY.KARENS FIREND AND MOOKIE SAW EACH OTHER AND THEY FELT AS IF IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.THE WOMAN IN THE FAMILY DISAGREED WITH THEIR RELATIONSHIP SO THEY TRIED THEIR BEST TO BREK THEM UP.KAREN FELT AS IF SHE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF IT SHE DIDNT KNOW WHETHER SHE SHOULD HAVE TOLD HER BESTFRIEND OR TEL HER FAMILY HOW BIG OF A DEAL THEY ARE MAKING THE SITUATION AND THAT MOOKIE IS OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE HIS OWN DECISIONS.I OFTEN FEEL MYSELF IN A SIMULAR SITUATION BECAUS EMY BROTHER IS CURRENTLY IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH ONE OF MY BESTFRIENDS AND MY MOTHER DOESNT REALLY AGREE WITH IT SO I FIND MYSELF TELLING HER THAT THEY'RE OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS AND THEY'RE GOING TO REMAIN IN A RELATIOPNSHIP UNTILL THEY'RE READY TO HANG IT UP.SO AS FAR AS CONNECTING TO THE CHARACTERS I TOTALLY CAN CONNECT TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF THE CHARACTERS IN MY BOOK.
<img width='1' height='1' This book was very interesting. It drew me in to a whole other world. I just couldn't put it down.I don't think it is possible to find a book interesting and not enjoy it. If something interests me I am drawn to it, I need to finish it. If I was younger I probably wouldn't be into it. When I was younger I enjoyed fantasy books. I did have high expectations. This book reached all my standards of what a book should be like. It was interesting, realistic and had a good plot. The book jacket was which drew me in. It is simply a little Indian girl with a scarf on that only shows her eyes. The illustration did a god job of indicating this type of book, because the book is basically about a young Indian girl sold into prostitution. I truly enjoyed reading this book and recommend this book to everyone who likes a "GOOD" book.

HER MOTIVE

UMMMMMMMM, HEIDI IS IS ON A VOYAGE TO FIND OUT ABOUT HERSELF. The book described how disgusting, drunk, smelly old men would come and have sex with Nakshimi. The way she lived was unbearable. There was a corner which was the "bathroom". Also if a girl tried to escape they would shave her head leaving a bald spot to show how unworthy they were. Woman there are beat constantly.

I felt very nautious thinking about it. It made me sick thinking this really happens in the real world. Some woman survive and some don't. Or they are never rescued. Things may seem wierd and out of place but they are just as normal to that person as soemone going o the store to shop. i cant personally relate to any of the characters in the book. the closest thing that i can relate to in this book is knowing someone that doesnt know there father and wants to find out who he is such as my cousin. my cousin is now 18 years of age and he doesnt know his father!!!! ABUT HE IS DETERMNED TO FIND OUT WHO IS HE IS ONE DAY. the character Hiedi reminds me of a neighbor of mine that has a mother thats not there for her and hasnt been since she was a little girl just like Heidi's father.

QUESTION?

hmmmmmm if i could ask Nakshimi a question I would have to ask her if she could forgiver her stepfather after the pain he put her through. Instead he is 60 and stuck in a dead end sales job. Interestingly enough, Willy's father abandoned him as a child to also seek fortune in Alaska. In a weird twist, Willy is disappointed in his son Biff because he is constantly seeking work outside of the norm of the day. He's worked on cattle farms and other jobs that Willy does not respect. Biff explains that he likes these jobs because he's not stuck inside at a desk and can be out in the open air.

In American culture the west has always been symbolic of the open frontier, a vast unexplored wilderness where a man could make his living outside of the realm of laws and societal constraints. It's interesting that these two books, written 50 years apart, have such similar themes.

Does anyone else know of any characters who seek a life outside of society? Anyone have a friend or family member who constantly wants to go out on the open road? What do you think drives a person to feel like this?

__________________________________________________

Dear Blogger: This is not a spam post. I am mailing to publish this on all of my student's blogs in order to provide a sample and to engage in discussions. Please call off the spambots.

Setting of "SOLD"

The setting of this book takes place in two places. In the beginning of the book it takes place in Nepal. This is when Lakshimi is happy living with her mother. The second half of the book takes place in a city in India, where Lakshimi is forced into prostitution. This has an effect on Lakshimi because she is forced to sleep with men at the age of thirteen. Her life becomes miserable and unbearable.

who am i without him by sharon g. flake

THIS BOOK WAS WRITTEN AND PUBLISHED IN 2004.WHO IN HER LIFE INSPIRED HER TO WRITE SUCH A DETAILED BOOK,AND ARE THESE SITUATIONS SHE OR SOMEONE SHE KNOWS HAS FACED ARE QUESTIONS THAT COME TO MIND AS I ENHANCE IN READING THE BOOK.IF I WERE TO PICK THIS BOOK BACK UP AND READ IT IN ABOUT TEN YEARS I DONT THINK THAT THE PURPOSE OF THE BOOK WOULD CHANGE ONE BIT.SITUATIONS OUR GENERATION IS DEALING WITH ARE GOING TO BE THE SAME SITUATIONS THAT OUR CHILDREN AND THEIR GENERATIONS WILL GO THROUGH.WHICH IS WHY I APPLAUD MS.FLAKE FOR HER KNOWING THAT SHE IS TEACHING LESSONS THROUGH LITERATURE AND BEING A POSITIVE INSPIRATION EVERYTIME SOMEONE GOES TO READ HER BOOK.

curious reader!!!!!!!!!!!

If i could ask the character anything i would ask her why sje wanted to no more about her life??? It's a nonfiction book, and since I haven't
summed it up yet in a previous response, it's about a kid who is
searching for meaning in life and seeks this meaning by exploring.
At the beginning of the book we find out that he ends up dying in the
middle of Alaska to exposure.
Even though I think I'm supposed to, I'm having a really hard time
identifying with the main character, Chris McCandless. I look at
the cover and there's this picture of Emile Hirsch portraying
McCandless. He's a good looking kid, and he's kind of sitting in this
"top of the world" type dominant pose. The author seems to really
identify with the character, and spends a couple of chapters relating
his own similar experiences. And McCandless is seemingly the rugged,
individualistic antihero that Americans celebrate.
But, I can't get into him, and I think it's because I'm a parent
now. I see the way this kid abandoned his parents, went off into the
middle of nowhere, took chances, didn't write home, and espoused his
theories on the way life works to whomever would listen, and I'm
like, "dude...call your mom, dad and sister. They're worried sick."
The kid is kind of portrayed as this spiritual, deep Thoreau quoting
prophetic figure, but he just strikes me as naive and self centered.
I don't know what I'd do if I was his parent. I would be devastated
if my son took off after graduating college and just disappeared.
It's really rather sad.
(By the way, if you're wondering, this response is to the 7th bullet
under character.
